Dashain Collection Drive 2003
A successful social event……………

With the start of Bada Dashain 2060, OnlyAtNepal and Emblem of National Development (END-Poverty), a non-government organization, jointly organized a grand event, Dashain Collection Drive 2003 at GAA Hall, Thamel. New and old clothes were distributed to 17 different Orphanage Homes & Prison Nestling Homes.

As we all know, the most important issue here in Nepal is extreme poverty. But many Nepalese families in the cities have more than enough resources, which are mostly wasted. If the resources available among us are mobilized properly by the means of recycling or reusing, Nepalese living under poverty line will have enough resources to live decently.

Regarding the above issues, this program was organized on the occasion of our biggest festival "Dashain" and the program was inaugurated by Mrs. Chitra Lekha Yadav, Deputy Speaker of Parliament. With the theme of poverty reduction through recycling & reusing, old & new clothes from households & schools of cities were collected and distributed to the children as Dashain gift.

More than 400 enthusiastic and innocent children were present in the event. Among them, there were few children who have lost their parents due to maoist insurgency. Their eyes filled with tears during the prayers for peace in the nation. At the end of the program, children were entertained by an interesting magic show.

Clothes collection for our next program "Winter Collection Drive" was also inaugurated during the program. During this program, we will distribute warm clothes especially blankets to needy people of Terai Region with the help of Nepal Scout and many other interested volunteers.

With a powerful voice of "Helping the Nepalese by the Nepalese", we welcome all volunteer who are interested to contribute in this event in any way. If all of us are committed to help each other, we can make significant contribution to people who are in need of help.
